Aberdeen Airport Information
Aberdeen Airport
Aberdeen Airport is located seven miles northwest of Aberdeen and is the primary gateway to northeast Scotland. Aberdeen Airport is open from 05:00 to 22:30 and offers flights to most UK cities, the Northern Isles and Scandinavia.
One main terminal handles all air traffic, with both Arrivals and Check-in situated on the ground floor of the terminal. Many major airline carriers such as KLM, British Airways and Air France offer flights to Aberdeen. There is a second terminal at the airport called the Bloomfield Terminal which serves the off-shore oil industry by helicopter and is open from Monday to Friday.
Money exchange booths and ATMs can be found near the security desk in the main atrium. A left luggage facility and a mother and baby room are also available and are situated close to the Information Desk. There are several shops at the airport, including some duty-free stores as well as some Scottish souvenir stores such as Christian Scott and The Whisky Shop. Travellers can get a bite to eat or a have a drink at the airport pub, café-bar, coffee shop or at one of the several restaurants. The airport is also equipped with standard facilities for the disabled, with adapted toilets, telephones and ramps for those with special needs.
The British Airways Executive Lounge is aimed at business travellers’ needs. Alternatively, the Aberdeen Airport Thistle Hotel has conference rooms and business facilities and is within the airport grounds.
Transport and parking at Aberdeen Airport
Travellers have the option of taking a train, taxi or bus into the city. Trains run to Aberdeen and Inverness from Dyce Station, which is situated close by to the airport. Taxis are plentiful and can be hired from outside the main entrance. Rainbow Airport Taxis and AA Taxis are the two companies you can choose from. Buses also run to Aberdeen throughout the week and less frequently on weekends. There are four bus services available. First Bus number 27 operates from Monday to Friday, while Stagecoach service numbers 10, 307 and 737 travel throughout the week and on the weekends; number 307 runs to and from the airport on Sundays.
There are five types of parking at Aberdeen Airport. These are short-stay, long-stay, Fast Track, disabled and long-stay for off-shore oil workers. All parking facilities have 24-hour CCTV surveillance. Fast Track airport parking provides wide parking bays that are situated close to the terminal and are convenient for business travellers. Short-term parking is available in the car park situated closest to the terminal and is ideal for stays of up to 5 hours. It’s advisable to pre-book long-term parking to save money; this can be done by phoning the airport or booking online. Patrons of the car parks must take a ticket at the barrier on entry and then pay at the machine located outside Arrivals by cash or credit card before they exit the facility.
